Description

The Director of Health & Wellness is responsible for the coordination, delivery, administration and evaluation of community-based health and wellness services.  The Director liaises with other service providers to advocate and meet community needs to create holistic services.  The Director possesses excellent communication skills and is a result-oriented individual with an ability to establish effective relationships.  The Director has knowledge of the health and wellness challenges and opportunities specific to the community and provides leadership to develop culturally relevant and safe health programs and services that will meet the needs of the community.

Duties

Program Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to planning, organizing, implementing, maintain and evaluating culturally relevant and safe health and wellness programs and services in a manner that is respectful of diversity and in alignment with the culture and traditions of SXFN.
  • Lead consultative processes regarding community health planning needs and opportunities, including identification of relevant health and wellness priorities.
  • Ensure programs and services follow legislation and organizational policies, processes, and procedures and are aligned with the vision of SXFN strategic plan.
  • Manage the budget and financial reports of the health and wellness programs and services, including efficient utilization of the budget.
  • Prepare and monitor work plans, including reporting through regular and annual reports.
  • Collaborates with community, health partners (FNHA, Three Corners, Regional Health Authorities, etc.)

Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in Human Services, Health Services, or a related field (e.g nursing, health care management, home support worker, social development or another related degree) or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of the First Nations Health Directors Association Certification Program is an asset.

Experience:

  • Significant, recent, and relevant experience working in a health setting (five years or more) including the development, implementation, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of health and social services programs and services.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
  • Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements.
  • Must reside in the geographic region (i.e., Williams Lake, 100 Mile House) to be able to work in the community of Dog Creek and/or Canoe Creek.
